Construct A

Internal Purpose: Personal Vision

Two elements that are measured by this construct are purpose and vision. Generally, an individual’s life purpose should indicate the direction and focus of their contribution to life. This varies greatly from person to person. E.g., individuals derive meaningful purposefulness from the various roles they play in their life, such as career, relationships, hobbies, and/or community contributions. Purpose is necessary for self-realisation (achieving one’s full potential). When individuals are not clear on their purpose, they will struggle during difficult times. It is necessary for individuals to find meaning in why they are here and where they are going, or their chances of success will be lower. Personal vision is linked to one’s goals and objectives. It has been shown that the ability to form a mental picture (in the metaphorical sense) of what it feels like and exactly what it will entail to be in the position in which one has achieved one’s goal, the chances of reaching that goal are exponentially higher.
